Elegant and beautiful Miss Universe 1993 titleholder Dayanara Torres wowed the Filipinos once again when she tried eating a Filipino classic, the sinigang na baboy dish. The pork sinigang is a sour soup native to the Philippines where bony parts of the pig, called the 'buto-buto,' are prepared.
These can be the following: Pork neck bone, chopped spare ribs, chopped baby back ribs, and pork belly. There are times pork kasim and pigue (or pork ham) can also be used, according to Panlasang Pinoy.
Dayanara Torres is a Puerto Rican beauty who found fame in the Philippines when she traveled to Manila in 1994 in order to crown the next Miss Universe. She remained in the country after that, where she bagged movie roles, appearances on television, and endorsed several products.
Dayanara became a very well-loved celebrity and lived in the Philippines for five years. During her stay, she learned to speak Filipino and even had a four-year relationship with actor Aga Muhlach. The two initially met on the set of her first ever Philippine movie, 'Basta't Kasama Kita.'
She also became a host for five years in the noontime variety show 'ASAP' when it first aired in 1994 on ABS-CBN. In 1995, Dayanara won the Best New Female TV Personality in the 10th PMPC Star Awards for Television, the only Puerto Rican actress to have garned a win at the Philippine Awards Night.
Now, she's back in the country as one of the judges for the 65th Miss Universe held in SM MOA Arena, Pasay City, together with Mickey Boardman, Francine LeFrak, Cynthia Bailey, Leila Lopes, and 1994 Miss Universe winner Sushmita Sen, according to ABS-CBN News.
Dayanara noted that pork sinigang would always be her favorite Filipino food and to prove her point, she recorded herself eating it, with one of the caption saying "My Favorite Pilipino food."
