According to Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. despite what happened during Martial Law, his dad, the late president Ferdinand Marcos deserves to be buried at the hero’s cemetery.
Bongbong said that based on the existing rules, a former President and a soldier deserve to be buried at the hero’s cemetery.
"Ang sinasabi ng rules, ang isang sundalo na nagsilbi sa bayan may karapatan na mailibing sa Libingan ng mga Bayani, ang isang naging Pangulo may karapatan na mailibing sa Libingan ng mga Bayani," he said.
“What are the rules for? The family doesn’t change our position. We go by the rules.” Bongbong said.
"Let the electorate judge me and my family," said Marcos
The burial of late president at the hero’s cemetery has been a controversial topic this month of November 2016.
According former president Benigno Aquino III, it will be the height of injustice for Marcos remains to be buried at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.
In the press conference following the forum, Marcos said Aquino's criticism was not directed only to him but to the entire Marcos family.
"The President's criticism is not just about me but everything about my family,'' he said. "Pakiramdam ko tuloy, parang presidente yung tinatakbuhan ko."
"Leave it to the people to judge,'' he said.
"Who did most for the country? Sino ba talaga ang nagmalasakit at nagsakripisyo sa taong bayan? Sino ang nagdala talaga ng ginhawa?"
