Senator Leila de Lima said that President Rodrigo Duterte was out of his head for thinking his the same level with
”President Duterte has a really inflated, if not delusional, view of himself as a strongman at the level of China and Russia’s leadership,” De Lima said.
De Lima called President Duterte a naive and accused him of not thinking the welfare of the people and the result of his actions.
“He’s only proving that he’s a naïve child, looking at the world through distorted lenses when it comes to a lot of things, including foreign policy – absolutely no concept or care for the consequences of his actions,” De Lima said.
De lima said Duterte should not persuade on the special treatment he receives from China. Again, De Lima lectured Duterte to take consideration before he does something because the life of million people depends on him.
“This is what an official visit to China looks like: they will wine you, dine you, roll out the red carpets and treat you like queens and kings. It’s a really good feeling.
She also said Duterte is not a "God" and has no right to put himself higher than anyone else.
Nangako kang tatalima sa Konstitusyon, do it. You have no right to put yourself above the sovereignty of the people. Hindi ka diyos,” the senator said.
“We have to look at facts and reality, not the romantic picture that our star-struck and starry-eyed President wants to see,” De Lima said.
President Duterte earlier said that he will also talk to Russia for realignment after announcing the separation of Philippines and US.
“I’ve realigned myself in your [China] ideological flow and maybe I will also go to Russia to talk to (President Vladimir) Putin and tell him that there are three of us against the world – China, Philippines and Russia. It’s the only way,” Duterte said.
